Since 1stUP.com was notified that they were needing
to begin a liquidation of their assets and discontinue services, this
also meant that AltaVista, Excite, and Lycos, as well as many other
big names will not have a free Internet access service anymore, and
BootBox needed to come to the rescue once again. If you are an existing
customer of one of those companies, please be sure to read on as BootBox
will have a solution for you very shortly.
BootBox started looking for a new Free Internet Access alliance partner
that would be there now and in the future while providing an even
better free Internet access solution to the BootBox user base. Unfortunately,
since NetZero gained their patent on the serving of banner ads to
offset the cost of providing a free Internet Access solution, BootBox
nor anyone else has the ability to make free Internet Access a reality.
In fact even NetZero has begun limiting the hours and charging a fee
of $9.95 per month and you still have to look at banner ads the entire
time your are online.
That solution was unacceptable to BootBox so we went searching for
a company that would be there now and in the future, that could provide
fantastic service to our users while maintaining a monthly fee that
we feel everyone can afford. There will be no banners, a POP account,
unlimited access, and account maintenance through our control center,
all for a low cost of only $8.95 per month. This solution will be
launching very shortly. We realize that a lot of you have been checking
this page of our website for updates and we had said to check back
on or around Dec. 19th, but we really had nothing to tell you then.
Now we can safely say that we are already well on the way to launching
this solution and know you will find it as appealing as we did during
testing.
Soon you'll be able to check local access numbers in your area to
make sure we are covering the area(s) you need to use by clicking
the check access link at the top of this page. The list we are currently
looking at has over 2300 different phone number across the USA (including
Alaska and Hawaii) and Canada. We will be expanding those numbers
as they are presented to us to include such possibilities as Japan,
Australia, Europe, South America, Mexico, and more. We were hoping
to launch this service a while ago, but now we can safely say that
very soon, you will have a fantastic, low cost, dialup solution with
no banner ads, a POP account, our 10mb sub domain website solution,
and all of the other great features we have been asked about over
the past year.
Just another way BootBox is making the Internet easy to use with great
products and services.
Thanks for sticking with us. We apologize for any loss of service
you may have experienced with our old free Internet access service
and hope that you will try our new service as soon as it launches.
